El Señor de la Conquista

By Fernanda Noriega

One of the most deeply rooted traditions of San Miguel is to reserve the first Friday of each March to celebrate the Festivity in honor of the Lord of the Conquest or also venerated as “The Christ of the good weather”.

On this day, which this year will take place on Friday, March 4, “the 33 creeds” are prayed, which alludes to the 33 years that Jesus was among us, as well as folk dances in front of the San Miguel Parish Archangel.

This tradition is more than 400 years old and the dances traditionally begin at dawn, ending at dusk in the atrium of the Parish and Main Garden of San Miguel, in honor of the Lord of the Conquest, where dozens of faithful and indigenous communities of the municipality also and surroundings meet this day.
